Thêu Pottery Lamp
A lug-handled jar under a hand-stitched paper shade.
A small Bàu Trúc jar with two lugs becomes the base of a table lamp. The shade is handmade paper, laced shut with visible stitches - thêu means embroidery in Vietnamese.
Switched on, the light falls over the shoulder of the jar and picks out every mark the open fire left behind.

- Halan clay from the Quao river, mixed with fine sand

- Open fire of wood, straw and coconut husk, around 800°C

- No glaze, no colourant - colour comes from fire and smoke
- Care
- Unglazed clay is porous. Dust with a soft dry cloth. For fresh flowers, use a glass liner inside.
